Karen Manion is living a dream as a jazz singer on the Toronto scene.
Karen and her Band have played to sold-out crowds at Toronto’s premiere jazz clubs, The Montreal Bistro and The Top O’ The Senator.
She was recently chosen for a nationally broadcasted interview and performance on CFRB’s Marty & Avrum “The Food Guys” show.
She’s been picked up by a major Vancouver booking agency for representation overseas, and is in the planning stages of her first full-length CD.
She’s also been heard on CBC’s Metro Morning and seen on CityTV and keeps the company of Toronto’s finest musicians Mark Eisenman Trio and Richard Whiteman to name a few.
She is a popular entertainer at weddings, special events, corporate and private function of all kinds. She’s a regular at local music festivals, charity galas and has provided back-up vocals for Canadian recording artists’ shows.
Karen’s unique approach to jazz standards, lounge, novelty and cabaret genres allows her to solo with single accompaniment or swing with a full jazz ensemble. Her colourful delivery and lighthearted banter makes for a lively show, indeed!
Karen draws inspiration from the jazz stylings of legends Fitzgerald, Torme, Sarah, Vaughan, and Ross. Her goal is to touch the audience’s heart and transport them back to a more leisurely and elegant time.
